What
you can do with your donation to help our staff serve
the needs of the community

Pay for a midwife, sponsor a nurse, make a donation.
Our
major expenditure each month are the salaries and other
costs related to the 22 staff employed at Hope Clinic
and so we ask that the funds you send to us can include
a contribution to these salaries. We manage our finances
carefully to balance the 'see-saw' of sustainability.
On one side the inflows of fees from patients, the free
commodities from the government and your donations. On
the other side the staff pay, the drugs we need to buy,
the running costs of the facility including fuel to power
the generator.
if
we raise our prices, the fees the patients pay, we risk
also raising a barrier to access. We keep consultations
with Omusawo as cheap as possible, then patients
with a diagnosis can pay for the drugs. [if government
give us the drugs free, we dispense them free to the clients].
The money from consultations, laboratory tests, maternity
services, admissions and DONATIONS are the only sources
to pay the staff salaries and replenish the drugs. If
we receive donations that contribute to the staff salaries,
we don't need to raise the fees that patients face.
In
2011 - our final grant from the US Embassy was
completed. They had
met the cost of our staff working in the clinic and to
mobilise and follow-up the HIV patients, including mothers
who we want to test and maybe enroll in PMTCT to protect
their babies. It was only £1,500/ US$2,500 a month
but met all the salary and outreach costs by replacing
the fee that we would need to charge the clients so that
we could staff and provide the service. Realistically,
very few patients pay for HIV tests and can't be charged
for follow-up and mobilisation. Hope Clinic Lukuli is
now having to increase fees on lab tests and drugs and
charge for family planning advice, and even immunisation
cards so that we can try to match that missing income.
Your donation could contribute to that general funding
for staff and help reduce the fees patients pay and keep
essential services financially accessible to all.
We
can as easily allocate your funds to support staff working
with children, with community outreach staff who help
people in their homes, or with the maternity staff. If
you are a United Kingdom tax-payer, please use Gift
Aid to add on the tax. Our bank details are here Letter to Bank and if you are outside
the UK, the account details are the same for web-banking
or over the counter. Please ask for any clarifications
