Companies and many non-health organisations have helped us - they and the community both benefit

The staff of DFCU (banking group in Uganda) formed an HIV workplace committee with the support of IFC. The staff wanted to expand their impact on HIV awareness in Uganda and so DFCU has supported us not only with funding, but staff time on site to give business information to clients and a personal donation each month by the employees across the country The company has also donated spare furniture and partitions from their banks, which saved us costs equating to half a month's payroll expense. DFCU also supported a midwife and improvements to the lab.

Aggreko started working in Uganda in 2005 providing critical additional electricity to the national grid and soon began its contributions to the community served by Hope Clinic Lukuli. Aggreko's staff have gained HIV awareness and the company's work in helping the community access HIV information and services is regularly mentioned in their annual reports and website.

Ugandan materials suppliers were critical in the design and construction of the current clinic premises in 2004 and 2005. Some have had the opportunity to help us again with repainting and modifications. When your company helps Hope Clinic we can support the sharing of this as we did for Aggreko and DFCU, or we can limit the publicity to our personal thanks and inviting you to the site. Bamburi Cement, Roofings Uganda, Hwan Sung, Sadolin Paints, CTM and the Tile Centre all opted for this option.

Many business people are also members of Rotary International. In support of the new facility the local Rotary Club of Makindye and a partner club, Cheltenham Cleeve Vale, in the UK worked with The Rotary Foundation to gain a Matching Grant for Hope Clinic. The total contribution exceeded US$21,000 and provided the furniture, power back-up and medical instruments to equip and open the current clinic in 2005. Since then, Rotary Club of Cheltenham Cleeve Vale and the companies of Rotarians in that club have helped the clinic and the community through supplying mosquito nets, sponsoring staff and buying a generator.

Please contact the clinic if you think you can share your company's work or contribute help our community.
